l have been doing my research continously on starter motorcycles and this one came up as being a good one for lower insurance, due to lower theft and very low crash rate.Sportsbikes are not the way to go from what l hear.Im 36 years old 6-0 200lbs, l do not need power as much as MPG. Hit me with ideas!!!

They last a long time, will run 70+MPH where it is legal to do so & l get around 60-65 MPG on mine. The downside is, being a single cylinder air-cooled engine leaves it prone to overheating.

l have the predecessor to the S40, an LP650PH, 1987, & wish it would go faster on the freeway. Otherwise, it starts easily, does what it is supposed to do, & stops when u use the brakes.

The M50 is only 10 cubic inches larger, is a twin, faster, & l do not believe the fuel mileage is that much worse. And u wo not be ready to trade in so soon.

Nope, not a good starter bike for a guy ur size unless u only ride in city traffic maybe. At ur height & weight the bike is really too small, wo not be fun & u will be ready to sell by year end. l agree with the 1st poster, definitely look at the S50 & forget the S40. Is this ur first time riding a motorcycle or streetbike? I'd actually recommend u get the S83 if u plan to do more highway riding & want a bike u can enjoy for more then 1-2 years. http://suzukicycles.com/Products/S83K8/Specs/Default.aspx At 6 ft, the 27 inch seat height of the S40/50 is aweful low, while the the S83 is about 2 inches higher. Full economy will still be close to 50mpg on the S83 & and its too heavy either. The S50 is a nice compromise though, at least its a twin cylinder & has larger tires for the highway then the S40. I'd get full coverage insurance & a motorcycle cover, that will pretty make ur bike unstealable. Make sure to get a quality Fullface helmet (HJC, KBC), wear gloves, jacket, pants everytime u ride. Take a motorcycle saftety course if they have one near you, sometimes good for a 10% insurance discount too.
