l have a gs 500e that was stored for 10 yrs. the tank rusted out and clogged the carbs. carbs were cleaned ant the tank was replaced. l think l properlly hooked everything up and it will only run for 2 min before it dies. then it wouldnt start for a couple hours, and it backfires a little bit. any ideas. where arte the fuel filters on these bikes. where should the vent line be placed to propwlly vent. and ideas greatlly appreciated

l hope you also flushed the oil, put in new spark plugs and fuel lines. l would have thought the fuel filter would have been in the bottom of the tank or line leading to the carburetor. You should probably tear the head down and replace the gaskets, which after 10 years of sitting have to be dried out. If you do get it started for more then a couple minutes, you should drain and replace the oil yet again after the 1st ride and use of the transmission.
