l have looked everywhere for this part but am unable to find it! It is off a 1982 Suzuki SC100 1.0L GX

If the Suzuki dealer can not get you one then you have two options left: 1) get creative and make one or 2) get rid of the machine, it is obsolete and parts are no longer available. A third possibility is to advertise in your local newspaper or on Craigslist or some such as that. Somebody might have one laying around in a box some place. Good luck.

The Bedford Rascal/Suzuki Super Carry vans of the same age were very similar mechanically, so it might be worth trying one of those - failing that, try contacting the SC100 owner is club: http://suzuki-sc100.demon.co.uk/
