It has this faint tapping noise whenever l turn on the air conditioner or when l shift into ''D''.The noise disappears at idling positions ''P'' and ''N''.The car has done only 750kms!! Brand new from the showroom!!What probably could be the cause?Its a slight ''tap..tap...tap noise which seems to be coming from underneath the tappet cover.

Take it in for a checkup from the neck up.

All modern engines have some injector noise which is what l suspect your hearing.if you do not hear it from inside the car l would not be too concerned. Still, as the others suggested, run it back by the dealer to make sure it is not a problem.

the 06/07 Gv is have had problems with the belts being too tight from the factory. try loosening the ps/ac belt slightly when the vehicle is running the noise should go away

l am about to get my hands on grand vitara but is there any other problem with this car before l put my deposit ><
