Okay, l know this may sound crazy.I am in the market to buy a Jeep Grand Cherokee or something similar.l came along a vehicle though that seems rather appealing, a Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Few questions:
A) Are cost of repairs much higher than normal?
B) REliability?
C) How do these handle in the snow?
D) Is it overall a good vehicle?

l like the fact that it is manufactured in Japan since Toyotas are so nice, but is Suzuki any good- and cost of repairs?

alright l have good news, go with the honda cr-v it is appealing and very very reliable, l just got th new one and l got hit from the back by a truck, all l had to replace was the bumper and it was 400 dollars and it was a good hit, it has all around 5 star crash test rating and gets 28 mpg. Suzuki are, as u said, like Toyotas. They r manufactured in Japan but have been here in the US for a long time. Compared to the Cherokee, the Vitara would be the definate winner. To answer ur questions. A) No. The cost of repairs r normal. Much cheaper than a Jeep. B) Suzuki may not have high sales volume but the have their fan base who buy the car simply because it is reliable. C) It is an SUV so it will handle well in the snow. It will do much better when equipped with 4x4. D) l think Japanese cars r the best. Never had any other.
l own a '98 Honda Prelude & a '02 Toyota Celica. Never had any problems with either.

Well, if u want something that really compares with the Grand Cherokee then u should look at the Suzuki XL7 which was redesigned in 2007 & one of the best mid-sized SUV is on the road today. You should also consider the Hyundai Santa Fe. Suzuki cars/trucks have gotten better over the last 10 years just like Hyundai's. Any vehicle that is 5/6 years old is likely to need some repairs sooner then later.though that depends on how many miles & the quality of prior maintainence. l am not really a Jeep fan & with the current price of gas going up daily I'd stay away from them. Suburau makes excellent AWD cars that do well in snow, can carry everything u need & get decent mpg.
