l can power up wheelies on my '05 GSX-R600 in 1st gear with no problem at all. However, since u r asking this question, l am assuming u do not have a lot of riding experience on a sportbike & therefore should not be doing wheelies anyways.

To put it simply: Powering up is the easiest way, but is not really the best. Clutching up is the most predictable way to wheelie, once u get used to slipping the clutch at the right RPM. I'd start in 2nd gear, because there is way too much power in 1st, & you're likely to loop it. COVER THE REAR BRAKE!!! If the bike starts to come up too fast, apply smooth pressure to the brake to keep from flipping over backwards.

And do not blame me when u wreck ur pretty new bike.

My SV650S will throttle wheelie in 2nd. uh YES, your bike will throttle wheelie in 1st, AND 2nd, possibly 3rd as well.

Please be careful and do not do anything supid that will get you or others hurt.
