Hi, the K1, K2 etc, came in on bikes from 2001. Hence K1 is for 2001 model, K4 is for a 2004 model. l believe the earlier bikes just used a single letter for the year code. If you look on the identification plate on the headstock you will probably see on there ''Model'' GSXR 1000 ''n''. The ''n'' being the year code.
