I'm about to buy a 2007 Suzuki Forenza...What are the ups & downs of this model?

For one thing it is foreign. Support US made products.

It is not a Suzuki but rather a GM Daewoo built in South Koria. l do not know how long this relationship with GM and Daewoo will last. It could cause problems with servicing, warranty and parts if the company backs out and goes under.

l would look at something else. The Forenza has reliability and safety issues. The resale value is poor. You would be better off looking at a GM product or a Honda , Toyota, Subaru or Nissan.

David is correct and Good Deeds needs to back his statement up with some proof.
There are currently no issues with 05,06 or 07 Forenza's. There is a recall to check the timing belt to water pump clearance on 04's.

That said the Aerio or SX4 would be a better buy since they are based on old proven Japan hardware.

Gas mileage could be better on all Suzuki's.

Suzuki is a great choice. The ups: well made, great warranty, good stying especially the little wagon. good dealer network, Suzuki is an up and comer. The downs: mundane dash styling, parts availabilty, poor resale value, but that will change as Suzuki, the best kept secret in automotive marketing, increases in popularity. l own 3 of them. Hey, did you consider the Suzuki Reno? Lots 4 ur $.

The Forenza is made by Daewoo, however, GM owns controlling interest in both Daewoo & Suzuki. The car is a great value for the $. It is more like a Corolla in the way it is tuned, meaning more for ride than for sportiness. Resale is poor on these vehicles, but if ur going to hold it for 100,000 miles (the length of the powertrain warranty) it wo not matter that much anyway. The comment below about the Reno is valid because the Reno is basically a hatchback Forenza. l currently have a Daewoo with a 130k & it has no significant issues. Good Luck!
