Is Maruti suzuki's new Swift diesel good

ya its the same bt it gives less milage than people say

Not much feedback have come on swift diesel,but l guess since it is a maruthi product u cannot expect the worst if not the best.

l am not sure of the pick up & performance,i am too keen on test driving it since l already have a swift VXI.

according to me its the best because for me swift is the best car.

Well it sure is good, but depends on ur definition of good, Its a Good looking car, Its got Good handling & comfort. Its got good mileage etc..
Anyways, the Swift diesel has been launched with a price tag between 4.4 to 4.9 lakhs ex showroom, so expect a on road price of about 4.7 to 5.15.
The engine is built at maruti is all new plant at manesar, technical info being shared with fiat. Its a 1.3 litre or 1300cc four cylinder engine.
The engine produces about 75 bhp, not sure about the torque figures. The best part is that it weighs a marginal 60 kg more than the petrol engine, so u do not get the front heavy feel in other diesel cars. The front suspension has been suitably modified to take the extra weight.
The swift has a new gearbox, which makes good use of the engine power.
The initial tests of the car reveal that its marignally slower by a second in 0-100 kmph, than the petrol car.
But the stunning part is the in-gear acceleration, which is an important factor, to help one overtake on the highway or in the city, the 20-80 kmph in 3rd & the 40-100 kmph in 4th r supposedly quicker times, than even bigger diesels like the Verna & the fiesta.
In city mileage is about 15, which l think is pretty achievable, considering the indica gives about 14 with a bigger engine. Driving conditions & use of ac will affect mileage suitably, but expect atleast 13kmpl.
Most important quality according to the review l read, stated that the difference between the petrol & diesel is not felt much after the engine has warmed up & is running. ie during actually driving the car.
