l bought it yesterday and collected it today, but having never had a convertible before l am worried about the whole cloth top thing. The car has an alarm and immobiliser but does not the cloth top make the safety system thing somewhat irrelevant given that anyone could simply cut the top and get in.Are immobilisers that difficult to get around on a Suzuki 4x4?

Would getting a tracking system be a good deterrent?

Not trying to state the bleeding obvious or anything, but should not you have considered that before you bought a car with a cloth roof?
To be honest, getting it nicked is not the problem, the standard immobiliser is pretty secure, but I'd be more worried about lowlife slashing the roof.

l think you will be fine. no tracking system is needed
