I am looking into buying a 1998 4-Door Suzuki Esteem. Everything on it seems in good working order. The mileage is kind of high, about 150,000 but the owner has recently fixed a few things on it. Everything seems up to date and l do not see any thing that could be wrong with it.

I've always wanted a foreign car, as I've heard they're more reliable, but I've heard that Suzuki and Mitsubishi and not very good foreign cars, but Honda and Toyota are. Does this mean that all Suzuki cars are crap? It just seems like a really good car at a good price ($1,800). l appreciate your opinion on it. Thanks!

its not a bad car. sounds like a good deal for the money.

i owned a Chevy tracker (which is a suzuki sidekick) way back in 1990-91 and it served me well. the only complaint l had was that the brakes were soft.

i was new to driving then and l beat that truck unmercifully. it never needed any repair.

The only thing that l can suggest to you is to check the Kelly Blue Book Value. I'd also suggest checking with the Auto mobile mag site below for any recalls this Year has had, that can usually tell you quite a bit on the dependability of the vehicle.

150,000 is a little bit severe , but if the ex-owner or the dealer says no problem , no problem . in my veiw Suzuki is never crap . if your point is on $1800 , who can say agaist it

the new suzuki cars ai not so bad as the pre 2004 ones & as for the mitsubishis they're not that bad.. if u're gettin a freakin esteem i'd suggest u to not waste ur money.. one thing even if everything seems up to date its a pre 2000 suzuki, trust me it ai not gonna last from personal experience.. u go like the next 15000 miles n u're like payin more in repairs than the car is cost.. if u want a truly reliable car that can last to 300000 miles with no problem honda civics r the way to go.. mine is got 420000 miles on it, still runs real well..

suzuki esteem is a good car without doubt. only its a bit old fashoined style, but japanese!! it is a great value car for sure..in fact indian roads once only had these cars. But l also think 150K mileage is a bit too much for this car, because it is only a 1.3 L engine & this mileage is much of a strain for the engine. But it is a good car, even l have owned one & never had any problems. Honda & toyota r much more experienced makers & they surely pproduce cars which r reliable & ahead of suzuki..but never underestimate esteem!!

Hiya! Stick with the Suzuki Esteem. 150k may sound a lot, but engines nowadays are so damn good. Let is face it if you had to fit a new engine in it after a couple of years, you will still of had a good run for your money. Good luck whatever you choose :-)

l like honda cars. l dont like mitsubishi cars unless for speed. suzuki makes one the best bikes in the world. so l would say hondas and suzuki are ok
